"I do not do traffic well. I'm a very impatient person."
Despite the highest Thanksgiving gas prices since 2014, nearly 51-million Americans are expected to take to the roads and skies this holiday. That is 1.5 million more travelers this year than this same time last year.
For Larry Wilder and his wife, battling holiday traffic was not an option the day before Thanksgiving. Instead, the couple will eat turkey with their daughter in San Diego by way of Amtrak.
"We didn't want to fight the traffic so we're just going to sit back relax. I have my headphones so I'll just listen to cowboy music and enjoy the ride," said Wilder
Chris Barrett will have plenty of time to listen to whichever music he fancies. He and his wife booked their flight to Delaware three weeks ago. According to AAA, travelers taking to the skies will pay the lowest average in five years
"Fresno Airport is a nice easy airport to get in and the lines aren't that long and it's actually a good place to start," said Chris Barrett.
Thanksgiving has historically been one of the busiest holidays for road trips, but because of the increase in travelers, we could see record-level travel delays this year.
